Who doesn’t love a good cup of coffee? The way it smells, the rich flavors, and the way it wakes us up in the morning. It’s no wonder it is the world’s second most popular flavored drink. And Augustinians are a fan of this lovely beverage.
Augusta’s coffee culture started with a few small shops and roasters. But in recent years, the coffee scene has exploded.
There are now dozens of places that offer a variety of coffee drinks and pastries. The coffee shop owners are passionate about their craft. As the coffee culture continues to grow, the city is becoming known for its excellent coffee.
With so many options, deciding where to get a cup of Joe is difficult. That’s why we have compiled a list of the best local coffee shops to grab a cup of coffee in the CSRA.
Quick note, I have purposefully left out chains like Dunkin, or Starbucks. As a coffee lover, I cherish fresh roasted beans, which is the case when you purchase coffee locally.
New Moon Cafe¶

If you are looking for a well-made cup of coffee, New Moon Cafe is the place to go.
It is one of the highest-rated coffee shops in Augusta. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed. The walls lined with local art, including the menu. It is a great place to get some work done, too.
The staff is friendly, and the coffee is excellent. If you like your coffee strong, New Moon Cafe has that covered too.
It is also a great place to grab a bite to eat. The food is made with fresh ingredients and tastes great. The bread and pastries are baked in-house, and the soups are made from scratch daily. Most of the ingredients come from around the southeast area.
Aside from food and coffee, they also offer some really cool smoothies. One of my favorites is the Green Monster.

Inner Bean Cafe¶

Located near Bobby Jones Expressway, this modest coffee house offers java drinks, pastries, sandwiches, and various other treats. You can also order from a full menu of breakfast, lunch, and dessert items.
The atmosphere feels more like a sandwich shop than a cozy coffee house.
But their coffee is pretty good.
Commanders Coffee Roasters¶

Formerly Ubora Coffee, but with the same great beans, it is not unusual to step into Commanders Coffee and get hit with the rich aroma of coffee.
Using fine coffee beans from around the world, Randy creates unique blends. Whether you’re a coffee lover or not, the experience of walking into their rustic and charming store is sure to leave a lasting impression.
Located in downtown Augusta, Commanders focuses on creating a unique and authentic customer experience.
The shop is well known for its unique, seasonal drinks. They have a variety of different flavors that you can’t find anywhere else.

Buona Caffe Artisan Roasted Coffee¶

With three different locations in Augusta, Buona Caffe is a great place to grab a cup of coffee before work or any time of the day.
This local favorite has been serving up quality coffee and pastries since 2010.
The roster is well known for its fresh baked goods; they offer a wide selection of delicious treats, including coffee cakes, scones, muffins, and more.
Buona Caffe is also known for its espresso-based drinks that are sure to pique your interest.
Further, they support local businesses by purchasing from local suppliers and farmers. Most of their products are grown or made locally.

Rooted Coffeehouse¶

With five different locations, Rooted Coffeehouse is the coffee shop in town. Its cozy, modern atmosphere makes it the ideal place to enjoy a cup of coffee, grab a quick bite, and catch up with friends.
The menu has a variety of options ranging from breakfast to lunch.
If you are in the area, be sure to stop by and enjoy one of its delicious caprice sandwiches or a healthy drink.
